WSC16-076 - The Waltzing Matilda Centre (the Centre) located in Winton Township is an iconic Queensland tourist attraction, and a vital part of the tourism infrastructure of the Winton region. The Centre was destroyed by fire on 18th June 2015.
Council is planning for reconstruction of the Centre (the Project). Council has engaged Local Government Infrastructure Services (LGIS) as client side project managers and has engaged Cox Architecture to document a full suite of architectural, engineering and services technical design specifications and building approvals (design documentation) for the new Centre. LGIS is now assisting Council procure a suitably experienced and qualified Head Contractor (Contractor) to reconstruct the Centre. Commencement of construction at site is forecast to commence in February 2017.
Council intends to engage a Contractor to undertake the construction of the Project via a two stage procurement approach (ie. Stage 1 - Open market EOI followed by Stage 2 - select RFT).
The Contractor will be responsible for providing all resources, equipment and materials for the construction of the works required under the contract. Reconstruction of the Centre is required by late 2017.

Winton is located in Central Western Queensland on the Landsborough Highway, 178 kilometres north-west of Longreach, 472 kilometres south-east of Mount Isa and approximately 1,353 kilometres from Brisbane City; covering 53,935 square kilometres and boasting a population of around 1,600 people.
