Tender Description

17004 - Maranoa Regional Council (Council) invites suitably skilled, qualified, and experienced businesses to tender for gravel haulage for the Fairview Road Upgrade Project.

Given the size of the project and the logistics associated with managing the number of contractors on site, Council is seeking responses from Tenderers (responding as ‘lead Tenderer’) who are able to deliver the number of side tippers required by the project, either through their own resources, or through pre-arranged sub-contract arrangements.

Tenderers need to ensure that they can provide capacity to ensure the adequate and consistent supply of gravel is maintained throughout the project’s duration. The gravel demand will vary depending on project requirements and weather forecasts; therefore, directly influencing the number of side tippers required on a daily basis. However, the provision of six (6) side tipper combinations (simultaneously), ranging from single trailers to AB triples, is the maximum number of vehicles required to ensure a consistent supply of gravel during peak periods.

It is essential that each Tenderer (lead Tenderer) has the capacity to supply all six (6) side tippers (simultaneously), with the Tender response to include the details for each prime mover and trailer of the lead Tenderer and all the sub-contractors that are likely to be engaged throughout the project.

Council is undertaking the upgrade of Fairview Road to meet predicted traffic demands. Fairview Road is located approximately 30 kms North of Injune, intersecting the Carnarvon Highway with works occurring between chainages 2337m and 27769m.The pavement works include a widening and overlay of the existing pavement with sections of full road reconstruction to an 8m pavement. The Fairview Road upgrade project commenced in August 2016, with the successful tenderer for road train side tippers commencing on 25 October 2016 (approximately). The construction period will span approximately 8 ½ calendar months, with construction work to be completed over a period of 7 ½ calendar months. This takes into consideration a project shutdown of up to four (4) weeks over the Christmas / New Year period.
