Tender Description
The proposed Kiama Aged-care Centre of Excellence (KACOE) facility at Kiama is being designed to provide 'ageing-in-place' services through an individual's multi-stage ageing process within the one precinct. The multi-stage care offering will range from independent living, assisted care and low-care, through to dependent care such as high-care and dementia care.
The KACOE precinct will be a benchmark facility and will include:
a) 134 aged care accommodation beds within the Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF);
b) 16 x 1 bed assisted living apartments (ALUs),
c) Heritage refurbishment to provide a community hall and meeting room facilities; and
d) 48 x 2 bed and 3 x 1 bed independent living apartments (ILUs).
In addition, the precinct will house a Community Care administration service along with the restored Barroul House, containing a cafe /restaurant and community facilities.
The proposed site is located at Bonaria Street, Kiama, where the existing Kiama hospital will be demolished to make way for the new works. The Development Application has recently been approved by the Joint Regional Planning Committee. Copies of the Development Application documentation can be found on the JRPC website.
APP Corporation are the appointed project managers, and on behalf of Kiama Municipal Council, are seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from suitably qualified contractors to undertake sensitive demolition and remediation works across the site.
