The Pilbara Regional Council is seeking to invite suitably qualified and experienced organisations or businesses to undertake conservation works at two site near Onslow in the Pilbara, WA.
The Old Onslow Townsite is located approximately 45kms from the current Onslow settlement and has been largely left to fall into a state of ruin since the town's relocation in the 1920s. Since this time, the Old Onslow Townsite has suffered the effects of erosion and unmanaged tourism, leading to a significant deterioration in the site and its remaining structures, namely the Police Station and Old Gaol building.
The management of this site is vested with the Shire of Ashburton. The Shire has vested the delivery of the project for conservation works in the Pilbara Regional Council.
Peedamulla Station, is located approximately 80kms north east of Onslow and is a functioning cattle station, run by Jundaru Aboriginal Corporation. The heritage-listed buildings on the station are associated with the development of the pastoral industry in the northwest during the 1880s. Since this time, the buildings have suffered significant deterioration.
