Tender Description
Council is looking for an external party to run public workshops to extract the community’s ideas and vision for regional tourism. Interested external parties wanting to apply will need to demonstrate the ability to handle the requirements of community workshops, including the workshop content, level of participation and how to handle the environment of the room. A high level of business and community interest is anticipated for these workshops. In addition, the external party will be required to work closely with Council staff in the co-ordination of this project.
The consultancy services require the facilitation of community and business consultation workshops in Orange. The proposed dates are Thursday 4 August 2016 (weekday) and Saturday 6 August 2016 (weekend). Venue hire will be covered by Orange City Council. The invitations to the workshop will be managed through Orange City Council’s Business Development Unit. The workshops will have time duration of at least half a day. Any requirements of catering will be covered by Orange City Council.
The workshop will include a section on:
* Delivery of an overview of who is visiting the Orange region using recent Destination NSW information
* Review of what is done well and not so well in the Orange region
* What does tourism in the Orange region look like in 2030
* Who is responsible/partnerships for the delivery of the 2030 vision.
* Identify Orange regional tourism priority areas
Other suggestions on workshop sections are welcome.
The community and business consultation workshop will include (but not limited to) representatives from events, attractions, food, wine, sporting, recreation, culture, historical, accommodation, retail, transport, health, visitor information centres, government agencies, non-government agencies, progress associations, community groups, etc.
At the completion of the workshop an Outputs Report containing the information from the consultation will be provided to Orange City Council. The report is to be submitted no later than COB Friday 12 August 2016.
This project will be open to include the local government areas of Orange, Blayney and Cabonne, on the basis that a large amount of the tourism product and experiences are located within all 3 boundaries.
Orange City Council is committed to the sustainable development of regional tourism.
