The Ministry of Health is engaging a consultant to review the experience of other jurisdictions in commissioning HITH and evaluate effectiveness, savings and opportunities for NSW in engaging third party providers.
Specifically the analysis will include:
* Desktop review of current HITH environment in NSW
* Assessment of experience of other jurisdictions with purchasing HITH
* Assessment of experiences of other purchasing models in NSW
* Assessment of third party provision options for HITH in NSW
* Clear recommendations for purchasing HITH including:
* The type of purchasing model (i.e. one supplier, multiple suppliers); and the associated risks; and
* Target areas for investment such as identified target groups, specific DRGs, HITH growth areas and/or geographic areas
The output of the review will be a purchasing strategy which will guide decision making around purchasing HITH services from 2016/17 and beyond.
