Expression of Interest for the Provision of Legal Services

⁠⁠⁠Council (the Principal) is seeking Tenders from appropriately qualified and experienced legal firms, organisations or individuals to form a panel of providers to provide legal services for a five (5) year period.

Richmond Valley Council operates various services provided by the organisation, Council deals with a wide range of legal matters that are administered under various statutes and legislation.

Richmond Valley Council requires legal services generally, but not limited to, the following areas of law and general practice:
* Local Government Act 1993 and associated Regulations;

Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979 and associated Regulations;
* Land and Environment Court appeals as well as civil enforcement matters and prosecutions;
* Local Government prosecutions and specifically, but not limited to, those relating to the Regulations under the Local Government Act 1993; the Companion Animals Act; the Food Act; the Roads Act; the Protection of the Environment Operations Act;
* Provision of legal advice on procurement issues;
* Government Information (Public Access) Act and the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act;
* Employment, Industrial, and Work Health and Safety matters;
* Real Property Act, Just Terms Compensation Act and any other legislation relating to the sale and purchase, leasing, licensing and resumption of property;
* Debt recovery (excluding matters dealt with by Council's nominated debt recovery agency/s); and
* General, including common law, contracting, joint-venture arrangements, etc.
