Tender Description
The Army Aboriginal Community Assistance Programme (AACAP) is an Australian government initiative established to improve the living conditions and environmental health of indigenous communities. The program will deliver new infrastructure, health and training services.
Toomelah is located in Northern NSW on the QLD/NSW border approximately 50km from Goondiwindi and 157km from Moree.
The design consultant will be required to design and certify the following infrastructure tasks:
Multipurpose Facility - General use community hall including offices, kitchen, communal areas and conference room. Additional use as a flood refuge.
Community Roads - The existing roads are in a poor state and the drainage/storm water is ineffective. The project will require the existing roads to be upgraded and the construction of a new road to the Multipurpose Facility.
Singles Accommodation - Single occupancy, self contained units (up to five). To be designed to 50% Schematic Design stage only.
Flood Mitigation - Toomelah is prone to flooding hence an investigation will be required to determine the effects of flooding on the community. The design consultant will be required to produce a hydrology report and propose possible civil works to mitigate effects on the community.
The design consultant will also be required to provide support during the delivery and closure phase of the project.
