Closing date: 3pm AEST Thursday 14th April 2016 The Australian and Tasmanian Governments are co-investing a total of $119.6 million of Infrastructure Investment funding in the Tasmanian Freight Rail Revitalisation Program that will see priority sections of the Tasmanian Rail Network upgraded over the four years to 30 June 2019.

Tasmanian Railway Pty Ltd (TasRail) are seeking the services of a suitably qualified, experienced and competent Contractor to Tender for Bridge Strengthening and Repair Works on the Longford Steel Truss Rail Bridge. Key Points of Tender:
* Tenders must be prequalified to level R3 or above as defined by the National Prequalification's System for Civil (Road & Bridge) Construction Contracts;
* No disruption to existing train operations by the works;
* Risks of working over water and at heights must be fully addressed both from an environmental and safety perspective;
* Compliance with all standards and co-operation with other rail maintainers;
* A compulsory site inspection will take place on 24th March 2016;
* Sustainability including origin of supply, support of Tasmanian industry, impact on Tasmanian industry (Buy Local Policy);
* Health, Safety and Environment compliance processes;
* Compliance with the Building Code 2013 and the Australian Government Building and Construction Workplace Health and Safety Accreditation Scheme; and
* Contract award April 2016 with works for completion in June 2016.
