Design and Construction of Bridge Over Richmond River at Broadwater - Contract No. 14.2544.1595
This is a quality assurance Contract.
Applications for registration’s of interest are invited from contractors who are on both the Road and Maritime Services F150 PLUS (Financial) and R5 (Roadworks) Register of Prequalified Contractors to undertake the design and construction of the Bridge over Richmond River at Broadwater.
The project involves detailed design and construction of a bridge over the Richmond River that is located to the north and downstream of Broadwater incorporating a single or twin bridge structure with earthworks bridge approaches. The bridge is approximately 1000 metres long, has a vertical clearance above the Richmond River of about 15 metres.
The Bridge over the Richmond River at Broadwater is located in an area of the Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Highway Upgrade known as section 10 - between Broadwater and Coolgardie. This section is subject to additional environmental approval conditions, including approval of the Ballina Koala Plan which is now being considered by the Federal Minister for the Environment. Roads and Maritime has to obtain approval of this plan before work can commence on this section. While this plan is being considered, work is progressing on the other 142 kilometres of the upgrade.
Roads and Maritime is progressing this Registration of Interest for the Bridge over Richmond River at Broadwater while the Federal Minister considers the Ballina Koala Plan. This is to ensure minimal delay to the project timeframe, should the Ballina Koala Plan be approved. In the event the plan is not approved, Road and Maritime may reconsider its approach to this procurement process.
A shortlist of applicants will be selected and invited to submit tenders for the design and construction of the project.
The NSW Government’s Code of Practice for Procurement (NSW Code) and the NSW Government’s Implementation Guidelines to the NSW Code of Practice for Procurement for: Building and Construction Industry (NSW Guidelines) apply to this project. Compliance with the NSW Code and NSW Guidelines is a pre-requisite to submitting any response to a procurement process (expression of interest or tender response) and to any successful applications being awarded. This is a joint Federal and State funded project.
The Building Code 2013 (Building Code) and the Supporting Guidelines to the Building Code 2013 (Supporting Guidelines) apply to this project. These documents are available at www.employment.gov.au/BuildingCode.
It is a requirement for this project that the successful contractor be accredited under the Australian Government Building and Construction OHS Accreditation Scheme at the time of entering into the contract for the contract work and while the contract work is being carried out. Information on the Scheme is available on the Australian Government website at www.fsc.gov.au.
