The Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from experienced artists or designers to develop a memorial at the site of the former Parramatta Girls’ Home in North Parramatta, New South Wales.
The EOI is an invitation for practitioners to demonstrate their interest in the project and provide FACS and its delegates with information about a proposed concept and their skill and ability to undertake the Commission.
The memorial will recognise and pay tribute to people who were abused as children at Parramatta Girls’ Home. The site has a long and complex history as a welfare institution for children and young people and plays an integral role in the heritage of Parramatta. The memorial will provide an active place of remembrance for former residents and a site of reflection and awareness for the community.
The memorial will be located within the Parramatta Girls’ Home site at 1 Fleet St, Parramatta North. This site is within the boundaries of a larger development program - the Parramatta North Urban Transformation project being completed by UrbanGrowth NSW.
