RFT - Design & Construct Fingal to Avoca Treated Water Pipeline

Avoca is a rural Town located approximately 62 km south east of Launceston. It has an existing reticulated water supply, with the water being sourced primarily from the South Esk River. A 'Do Not Consume' public health alert is currently in effect in Avoca due to heavy metal concentrations in the existing reticulation system that exceed the Tasmanian Drinking Water Quality Guidelines 2011 (TDWQG) health limits.
The existing water reticulation system has 109 serviceable properties, with 85 of these having residential, commercial or community improvements.

The primary driver for the construction of the new pipeline is compliance, specifically to address non-compliance with the Public Health Act 1997. In essence, compliance with the Public Health Act means compliance with the TDWQG. The current water supply infrastructure cannot be modified to achieve this goal with a new water supply for Avoca to be constructed.

The works under the contract consist of the design, construction and commissioning of a 29 km in length treated water pipeline from the new water treatment plant at Fingal to supply the township of Avoca.
