Tender Description

Rio Tinto’s Amrun Project is located approximately 40 km south-west of Weipa in far North Queensland, Australia. The Project will require the services of an accredited trainer in the local community to provide snake handling and awareness training to employees.

Specific Scope Requirements

The scope of work includes training employees in snake handling and awareness, including the removal and relocation of snakes and large monitors on site.

Upon successful completion of a course, students must have attained the following minimum competencies:
* Identification, care and safe handling of snakes generally, including large pythons, venomous snakes, and large monitors,
* Display sufficient knowledge of the snakes and monitor’s biology and behaviour,
* Legal responsibilities of the snake handler,
* First aid treatment of bites,
* Correct dress code and use of catching equipment.

Official documentation shall be issued by the trainer to verify student’s competencies.

In addition, the contractor shall confirm their ability to supply appropriate equipment to perform the above duties.
