Public Private Partnership for the New Grafton Correctional Centre

⁠⁠⁠The New Grafton Correctional Centre (the “NGCC”) will be the major multifunctional, regional correctional facility servicing the northern part of NSW and in particular will be the primary correctional facility for all corrections operations from the Queensland border in the north to Kempsey in the southeast, and Tamworth in the southwest. It will provide remand, reception and placement functions for specified offender cohorts. The vision for the NGCC is to operate in accordance with innovative best practice, both in providing safety and security, and providing dynamic, pro social management of inmates.

The NGCC will be located approximately 12 kilometres southeast of Grafton on a site capable of accommodating up to 1,700 inmates. The initial scope of the NGCC includes a new 600 cell maximum security correctional centre with surge capacity for up to 400 inmates, bringing the total capacity to 1,000 beds.

While the initial scope of the NGCC anticipates the delivery of 1,000 beds, the State may expand the initial scope to also include the following:
* A 300 bed, female correctional centre for the full range of security classifications; and
* A 400 bed, male, minimum security correctional centre.
