Naenae and Tui Street Sewer Renewals

⁠⁠⁠Hutt City Council has an ongoing problem with inflow and infiltration causing overflows into the stormwater system. This contract involves the replacement or upgrade of lines identified in earlier investigations so that the inflow and infiltration can be reduced in the network.

The CCTV inspection of the mains in Naenae identified displaced and open joints, root intrusions and encrustation deposits throughout these mains. The main in Tui Street was proposed for renewal due to a history of blockage events. CCTV inspections identified the main was in very poor condition, with extensive root intrusions, cracked and broken pipe sections and minor dips.

The contract works have been split into two separable portions with Separable Portion B being provisional due to budget constraints.

This contract specifies a pipe bursting methodology to be used in Naenae and an open trenching methodology for Tui Street however tenders outlining alternative methodologies for replacement will be accepted in accordance with clause 5.12 in the Conditions of Tendering. Tenderers should clearly state their replacement/ renewal methodology and have a clear revised Schedule of Prices included in their tender submission.
