NSW Health and Insurance and Care NSW jointly invite law firms to submit Tenders for appointment to the Medical Liability Sub-Panel of the Insurance and Care NSW TMF Legal Services Panel and NSW Health’s Medico-Legal Panel.
Legal service providers appointed to the Panel will provide legal services as and when required by Insurance and Care NSW, SICorp, NSW Health and Health agencies. The majority of this work will be TMF matters, however there will also be matters not covered by the TMF arrangements, where Panel firms will be instructed only by NSW Health and Health agencies.
The Panel Firms may be requested to act on behalf of NSW Health agencies and individuals working within the NSW public health system who have indemnity cover for certain liabilities under the NSW Treasury Managed Fund Statement of Cover (i.e. Visiting Medical Officers). The majority of these matters are clinical negligence matters; however, these matters will also include coronial inquests and other matters.
The number of appointments to the Panel will be decided upon evaluation of the responses in respect of the cost of services, capability, experience, and indicators of understanding and support for NSW Health Department and NSW Government policies. The successful tenderers will be appointed for a period of two (2) years with three (3) further one (1) year options. It is envisaged that the Panel will commence operation on 1 July 2016.
