Canberra ARFF Fire Station Upgrade

⁠⁠⁠Canberra ARFF Station is a Category 7 Fire Station which accommodates a staff of 25, providing ARFF services for Canberra Airport. The station was built in 1969 and extensions were done circa 1990. Canberra ARFF staff work on average 18 hour a day shifts, on a two on/four off rotating roster.

An assessment of the fire station has been completed and found a number of deficiencies which need to be addressed. The purpose of the Canberra ARFF Station Upgrade Project is to provide upgraded and improved accommodation for the fire station to enable an improved level of service to industry and workplace conditions for station staff.

To achieve the stated aim of upgrading the facilities at Canberra ARFF Station, under this RFT, Airservices will be seeking a Head Design and Construct (D&C) Contractor to carry out the following works (Refer to Part 3 - Statement of Requirement for full details):

* Provision of the following new facilities at the existing Canberra ARFF Station:
  * A dormitory and locker room;
  * A vehicle parking shelter;
  * A personal protective equipment (PPE) room and laundry;
  * A gymnasium;
  * A breathing apparatus (BA) room;
  * A storage room;
* Extension and reconfiguration of the existing engine bays;
* Upgrades to existing female facilities
* Ancillary services upgrades and other works required to support the reconfiguration and expansion of the building; and
* Removal and disposal of perfluorinated chemical (PFC) contaminated excavation and demolition spoil.

Airservices seeks Tenders that are not only compliant with the requirements of the RFT but also seeks out ways to deliver innovative and cost and delivery efficient solutions. Respondents are encouraged to highlight those parts of their Tender which achieves this. In addition, Airservices is also seeking alternative proposals to further investigate cost effective and innovative solutions, methodologies and approaches that could be achieved in supplying the Requirement. Accordingly, Tenderers are encouraged to lodge a proposal with alternative approaches to, or solutions for, the supply of the Requirement provided that the Tenderer also lodges a Tender that complies with the Requirement in line with the RFT.
