The panels will be guided by the strategic priorities set out in the industry Strategic Investment Plans.

Process - Expressions of Interest:
The process provides growers and other stakeholders with an opportunity to express their interest for selection and participation in strategic investment advisory panels for their related Industries. The process will be as follows:
Phase 1 - Positions advertised (week commencing 9 November 2015)
Phase 2 - Submission period of approximately three weeks (submissions close 4 December 2015)
Phase 3 - Independent recruitment firm short-lists candidates
Phase 4 - Short-listed candidates interviewed by selection panel (week commencing 14 December 2015)

More about the panels: The skills based panels will be comprised of industry supply chain stakeholders, a majority of whom will be levy paying growers. Geographic and sectoral diversity will be considered in forming the panels.

Each advisory panel will have clearly defined objectives associated with the provision of strategic investment advice and will be guided by the strategic priorities set out in the strategic investment plan for that particular industry.

The panels will meet face to face at least twice per annum, however requirements may vary depending on the needs of the industry investment program. The panels will commence operation from 1 January 2016.

Panel members are entitled to claim sitting fees and reasonable expenses incurred in attending meetings.

Panel membership will be structured with 'terms' of service for members to allow for a balance of continuity and member refreshment.

Hort Innovation will source and appoint independent chairs for each panel. The scope of the chair's role is to be confined to the effective conduct of panel meetings ensuring good governance and process around panel discussions. Terms of Reference reflecting this are under development. A full record of proceedings in each meeting will be taken using an appropriate professional services organisation.

In addition to the Strategic Investment Advisory Panels, in some industries it will also be appropriate for complementary advisory processes to be established. The precise nature of these will reflect the investment for the industry, its complexity and size. This may include tenders, program reviews and specific technical advice.

Applications will be assessed and shortlisted by an independent recruitment firm. Following this, a selection panel may interview candidates. The selection panel will then recommend the final industry advisory panel composition to the Hort Innovation Board.

Applications addressing the selection criteria must be received by 5pm on Friday, 4 December 2015.
