Artwork Fabrication and Installation - Perth City Link Rail
Tender ID: 249213
Tender Details
Tender Description
The Perth City Link project is collaboration between the Public Transport Authority (PTA), the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority (MRA), the City of Perth, the State Government of Western Australia and the Australian Federal Government.
This urban redevelopment project reconnects the Perth city centre with Northbridge – which has been separated by rail and marshalling yards for a century – through the creation of a 13.5 hectare site that will be utilised for significant and prominent urban regeneration.
This will be accomplished by sinking the railway lines (now complete) and Wellington Street Bus Station (in progress) below ground level in the area between the historic Horseshoe Bridge and the new Perth Arena.
While the impact of the redevelopment transforms the connectivity, use and character of this area of the City, it is also served by new and refurbished public transport facilities, including a new pedestrian underpass connecting Perth Underground Station to each of the rail platforms at Perth Station.
This underpass is the site for installation of a new Public Art project to be delivered as part of the Perth City Link Project and the subject of this Request for Quotation.
The procurement of artworks continues the 20 year commitment Western Australian transport authorities have had to providing opportunities for artists to express ideas through public artwork in their facilities.
The Perth City Link Rail Alliance has appointed a Western Australian artist team SURF (Jurek Wybraniec and Stephen Neille) to develop concepts for this new Public Art project. The new artwork to be fabricated and installed by the successful contractor will contribute to the quality of the passenger environment in this highly utilised and critical element of Perth’s public transport infrastructure.
