Dam C Infrastructure
Tender ID: 248210
Tender Details
Tender Description
Rio Tinto’s South of Embley (SoE) project is located approximately 40 km south-west of Weipa in Far North Queensland, Australia. The project site will require a Contractor for the construction of a 10mg fresh water dam (Dam C), a spillway including a fish-way, a decent structure complete with riparian release pipework and an Infrastructure corridor linking the dam to the process plant site.
Dam C comprises of an earth fill wall approximately 2,200m long and 10m high at the lowest foundation base location. A soil, cement, bentonite mix slurry wall cut off trench is to be installed under the centre line of the entire wall footprint to a depth of approximately 9m and a width of 0.9m.
A decant tower will be installed upstream of the wall to decant raw water through the wall to a pumping station that will pump to the Process Plant site through a 1m HPPE buried pipeline. The decant system also includes a riparian release pipeline to release flow downstream of the pump station location.
Included in the Dam C construction scope is an infrastructure corridor that connects the site to the Process Plant site. The infrastructure corridor will be cleared to approximately 55m in width and will accommodate the Dam C access road, a HV overhead power line alignment, access to 5 artesian bore sites and the raw water buried pipeline alignment.
The Dam impoundment area (Approx. 360Ha) is to be cleared. Grubbing of the impoundment area is not required.
