Tender Description
The business of government in Queensland is heavily reliant on the use of digital technologies. As such, the primary evidence of public administration in this State is created in the form of digital records. Many of these born-digital records are of critical importance and need to be retained in a secure, useable, accessible and authentic form for long periods of time, well after the technologies used to created them become obsolete.
Queensland currently lacks a whole-of-government approach to ensuring the longevity and ongoing useability of the increasing volume of critical digital information assets of the State. Queensland State Archives, which has regulatory responsibility for the preservation of the State’s public records, currently lacks the capability to take custody, preserve and provide access to permanent value digital public records. This places the critical digital information assets and the evidence base of public administration in the State at risk of loss.
The Department of Science, Information Technology and Innovation (DSITI) is looking to establish a digital archiving solution that will enable the ongoing preservation of and access to permanent value digital public records.
