MR190 Alfords Point Road Upgrade from Georges River to Brushwood Drive

⁠⁠⁠Tenders are invited for the MR190 Alfords Point Road Upgrade from Georges River to Brushwood Drive. The work under the contract involves upgrade of approximately 2.1 kilometres of Alfords Point Road between Georges River Bridge and Brushwood Drive, from the existing undivided 4 lane dual carriageway to a six lane divided carriageway with a type F median barrier separating the northbound and southbound. The works includes but are not limited to heavy vehicle inspection bay, variable message sign, bus stop, shared path, stormwater drainage, earthworks, pavements, street lightings, permanent water quality basin, noise barriers and landscaping.

The Project consists of upgrading the existing undivided four (4) lane dual carriage way to a six (6) lane divided carriageway with a Type F concrete median barrier in between the northbound and southbound lanes. The road widening is proposed to be undertaken on the eastern side of the existing southbound carriageway. The proposed third lane to be incorporated in each direction would align with the Brushwood Drive ramps and thus eliminate the existing northbound merge and southbound provide a dedicated exit lane with additional storage capacity to reduce queuing on Alfords Point Road. The northbound on ramp from Brushwood Drive will also be widened locally to accommodate a bus stop.

The Project also includes a 3.5m shared path adjacent to the southbound carriageway and relocation of the existing heavy vehicle inspection bay further south along Alfords Point Road under Old Illawarra Road Overbridge.

The Tenderer must be prequalified with the RMS under the National Prequalification System for Civil (Road and Bridge) Construction Contracts, at the prequalification class R3 (or higher) and financial level F25 (or higher) for the construction of the Alfords Point Road from Georges River to Brushwood Drive.

The key features of the projects and prequalification of the Tenderers includes:
* The Asphalt paving (machine placed) component of the work must be carried out by contractors pre-qualified with Class A2 or higher.
* The Concrete paving (machine placed) component of the works must be carried out by contractors prequalified with Category K2 or higher.
* The earthworks and drainage components of the work must be carried out by contractors registered with the RMS in Class E or D respectively or prequalified for roadwork.
* Primary Testing under the contract must be carried out by contractors registered with the principal in Category L2.
* The provision of Traffic control under the contract must be carried out by contractors registered with the principal in category G.

A pre-tender meeting, including a site inspection, will be held at: 71-79 Pyrmont Bridge Road, Pyrmont at 10.00am on Monday 12th October 2015. Attendance is mandatory to submit a conforming tender.

Tenders shall be submitted before 2.30pm (Sydney time) on Monday, 12 October 2015. Tenderers shall submit their tenders to the Tender Box located at Pyrmont.
