Critical Cast Iron Watermain Condition Assessment
Tender ID: 242634
Tender Details
Tender Description
Hunter Water has buried assets valued at over $3 Billion. These assets include an extensive system of critical watermains, some of which have been in service for more than a century. The failure of critical watermains can impact the service levels provided to customers, overall supply, safety, transport disruption and other social impacts, as well as financial and reputation implications.
In 2003 Hunter Water initiated a comprehensive trunkmain condition assessment program focused on the condition of large diameter and critical cast iron watermains. These watermains corrode over time and they are weak and tend to become brittle and fail in an unexpected and potentially catastrophic manner. The condition assessment program to date has been delivered by a material specialist team using the LPR technique.
This tender represents a continuation of the trunkmain condition assessment program, focussing on approximately 17 km of critical cast iron watermains of diameter 250 mm and above.
