Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠Hunter Water is a State Owned Corporation and the water and wastewater service provider for over half a million people in the lower Hunter region. There are 213,913 properties connected to the water network and 202,103 to the wastewater network.

Our area of operation covers 5,475km2 with a population of 517,403 in the local government areas of Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, Cessnock, Maitland, Dungog and Port Stephens.

Tenders are invited for the maintenance of grounds by slashing and mowing of the vegetation etc, in the Hunter Water Corporation's Tomago, Grahamstown and Nelson Bay water catchment areas.

The sites to be maintained have a total area of over 400 hectares and are scattered over a large area encompassing the surrounds of Grahamstown Dam (including Seaham Weir and Balickera Channel), Nelson Bay and Tomago Sandbed aquifers. The areas are generally flat tending to undulating and ranging from sandy to clayey terrain with a variety of vegetation growth and include firebreaks, fencelines, pipelines, powerlines and roadsides.

A population of Diuris arenaria (listed as endangered under TSC Act) are growing in the Tomaree NP (Nelson Bay). Slashing is NOT to be undertaken in this area between the months of July and November (inclusive) or when notified by the appropriate authority. The contractor and operators are advised that they could be prosecuted for failing to comply.

.The contract period will be for 3 years with 2x1 year extension options available.
