Tender Description
Powerlink performs a number of maintenance and construction activities including:
* Insulator Change
* Hardware Replacement
* Conductor Stringing
* OHEW & OPGW Installaion
* Structure and Hardware condition assessment
* Live Line and Bare-hand work
* Substation cut-in works
* Installation and removal of conductor hardware in mid-span away from structures.
To ensure this work can be performed safely and efficiently, Powerlink utilises EWP’s.These EWP’s are required to have a height of greater than 40m and either insulated or non-insulated boom, depending on the work requirements.Due to the location of some of the works, there is a requirement that the EWP’s can be used off-road possibly requiring 4 wheel drive.Powerlink have trained EWP operators, however, an operator would generally be required to transport and establish the EWP in the required location.This may be in difficult to access areas.
The height of these platforms required for the abovementioned work generally ranges from 40m to 101m.A 55m platform would be used for approximately 80% of Powerlink’s work with EWP’s.These EWP’s may be required for periods ranging from 4 hours up to many weeks for major projects.
Under the current National Electricity Market arrangements, Powerlink may incur liabilities if network constraints result in a total or partial failure to supply.
