Title: Development and Licence for a new Animal Rehoming Centre in conjunction with Tweed Council's existing Animal Pound Stotts Creek
Closing Date: 4:00pm Wednesday, 27 May 2015
Contact Email: tsc@tweed.nsw.gov.au

Tweed Shire Council operates a public Animal Pound, ('the Pound') at Leddays Creek Road, Stott's Creek. The Pound is open to the public between 10.00am and 4.00pm all days except public holidays. The Pound is only suitable for the impounding of dogs cats and other small animals abandoned or surrendered in the Tweed Shire.

The Pound currently functions as both an impounding centre as well as a re-homing centre, in conjunction with a Memorandum of Understanding with the non-for-profit organisation, Friends of the Pound, who provides a rehoming support service, as well as provides volunteer staff to assist Council staff in the day-to-day care of the impounded animals and facilities.

Council is proposing to separate these two functions by calling for expressions of interest from suitably credentialed parties to develop and licence part of the existing Pound building and site as a rehoming facility for impounded animals, separate to Council's impounding functions.

Council is interested in establishing a co-located facility similar to that operated by the Gold Coast City Council and the Australian Welfare League Queensland at Coombabah.

Documents are available from Tweed Shire Council's Engineering Division, Civic Centre, Tumbulgum Road, Murwillumbah - Phone 02 6670 2606.

No fee applicable for download of documents shown below. If printed documents are requested from Council then photocopying fees apply.
