Campbelltown City is a designated strategic centre and is just 53kms from the Sydney CBD, covering an area of 312 km2.
The City is home to more than 160,000 people with the population expected to reach 270,000 by 2031, and is a significant centre for the Macarthur region, providing a broad range of services and facilities including a major hospital, university, two TAFE colleges, arts centre, public transport, large shopping centres and a growing commercial and industrial sector.
Our location on the F5 provides residents and visitors with easy access to the wider Sydney metropolitan area. Residents enjoy this proximity while valuing the natural environment surrounding the city, including the Georges River, Scenic Hills, extensive bushland and rural lands.
Council's principal service centre is located at the Civic Centre in Queen Street, Campbelltown.
Council requires the services of a suitably qualified organisation to undertake routine environmental monitoring and surveillance of the closed non-putrescible landfill site at Lynwood Road, St Helens Park in accordance with the requirements of the NSW Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) and National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) guidelines.
Lynwood Road Landfill was a non-putrescible landfill that was gradually filled with residential household waste since 1973 and was closed in December 2003. The site occupies an area of 8.48 ha in the Campbelltown Local Government Area (LGA) and is located on the Cnr Rangers and Lynwood Roads, St Helens Park. Council has received Approval of the Surrender of a Licence that is subject to complying with EPA conditions that include routine monitoring and surveillance of the landfill capping.
