Refurbishment of Bore 8

⁠⁠⁠Council (the Principal) is seeking Tenders from appropriately qualified and experienced Tenderers for the refurbishment of Bore 8, which is currently not operational.

Parkes is situated in the central west of New South Wales about 300 km from Sydney. Parkes Shire Council (PSC) owns and operates the Parkes/Peak Hill water supply system which supplies drinking water to the towns of Parkes and Peak Hill and the village of Cookamidgera. Peak Hill is situated about 54 km north of Parkes. In addition, Parkes Shire Council supplies raw water to North Parkes mine via a dedicated system.

Water from the bores and the river is transferred to Parkes via two pipe mains and two pumping stations. Although they are designed to operate in parallel, currently one pipe is used for bore water and the other is used for the river water. Water pumped from the river is supplied directly to the Northparkes mine.

Bore 8 was constructed approximately 10 years ago, but has not been used as a production bore. The condition and the yield of the bore are unknown. The objective of this project is to commission Bore 8 and use it as part of Parkes - Peak Hill water supply, including Northparkes Mines. Bore 8 is owned by Northparkes Mines. Parkes Shire Council is undertaking the inspection, repair and fit out of the bore, and will be responsible for its operation.

The Contract will comprise three separable portions as follows:
Portion 1; carry out surveillance and report on the condition of Bore 8.
Portion 2; repair the Bore 8 (if required) according to finding of the surveillance carried out in Portion 1 and carry out a seven day pumping test.
Portion 3; based on the outcomes of the pumping test, complete and commission Bore 8 including pump and electrical equipment.
The Purchaser may terminate the Contract after each Portion. The Contractor will not be entitled for payment with respect to a Portion that has not commenced.

Respondents are required to attend a Tender briefing / site inspection.
