Establishment and Operation of TasRail's George Town Freight

⁠⁠⁠TasRail is seeking proposals from suitably qualified and experienced organisations for the initial establishment of operations, ongoing management and assistance with market development of its new George Town Freight Terminal.

The George Town Freight Terminal is designed to improve the efficiency and connectivity of freight movements in the State by providing more freight options for industry. The Terminal is strategically located in the George Town industrial precinct and provides a seamless linkage to the adjacent port facilities and TasRail’s network of freight terminals across the State.

The Terminal will handle movements of both containerised and bulk products (initially forestry products - logs). It is envisaged that TasRail’s Customers will use the site for receiving, dispatching and storing their freight consignments however other innovative options for utilisation of the terminal’s assets are requested for consideration.

Proposal documents will be available here on Tuesday 7th April 2015 and interested parties are requested to submit proposals by 18 April 2015.
