Newlands 1 Reservoir Seismic Upgrade

⁠⁠⁠Construction of seismic strengthening for the existing Newlands 1 Reservoir, Newlands.

The existing reservoir was designed in 1960 and has a capacity of 2,230m3. The concrete walls are 7.8 m high and are reinforced both horizontally and vertically. The reservoir has an internal diameter of 19.5 m. The roof is a reinforced concrete flat roof that is supported on the external walls and four internal columns.

The reservoir is to be strengthened with a new internal concrete ring beam at the base of the wall to increase the capacity of the connection.
