Tender Description

Restoration and repairs to stone sea wall W8 (approx 3.6m high x 45m long) of heritage significance located at Wollongong Harbour including re-pointing, filling of voids with mortar, re-capping and replacement of deteriorated sandstone.

 
Supply all labour, plant and equipment to carry out conservation management, restoration and repairs of stone sea wall (W8) at Wollongong Harbour in acordance with the drawings, photo survey and specification.
 
The works include providing access to enable works to the wall, removal of vegetation, lowering of sections of ground level, removal of hard cement pointing, removal of organic growth in conjunction with opening up mortar joints for re-pointing and filling of voids, removal of failed sections of capping and replacement with new capping, indenting of some failed sandstone blocks, dressing off the drummy face and loose crusts from part of the wall, filling of voids with mortar, replacement of some deteriorated stone blocks and repointing in lime / pozzolan mortar to match existing. 
 
Wollongong Harbour is listed under the State Heritage Register. The seawall (W8) where the work is proposed is to the far south east of the basin and on the sea front below the headland lighthouse. It runs between Pulpit Rock and the cliff face.
