Tender Description

The following specification outlines the Contractor's obligation to provide a service to grind / mulch Green Waste and timber at Council's Waste Transfer Stations.

Generally the bulk of the grinding/ mulching work will be carried out at the Howard Springs and Humpty Doo Transfer Stations. However there may be occasional work at the Berry Springs Transfer Station.

Council requires the existing green waste stockpiles to be processed as follows:
* First grinding through a 100mm screen
* Second grinding through a 50mm screen

The resultant mulch stockpile can be up to 5m high and should be located as directed by Council.

Council requires the Contractor to mobilize to the transfer station to carry out the mulching service within 4 weeks of receiving the request from Council. The grinding mulching equipment must also include a magnet with sufficient strength to remove all the steel and nails from the timber in the process.

Past records indicate that the amount of material processed at Howard Springs and Humpty Doo is in the order of 12,000 cub.m. The material to be processed comprises timber and green waste.

Prior to submitting a claim for payment the Contractor shall do a joint measurement of the processed mulch with the Council representative. If the Contractor cannot agree with Council as to the quantity of mulch produced then he will have to arrange for a survey of the mulch by a licensed surveyor at his own cost.
