Karamea Bluffs - Road Slip Repairs 2014/2015 Repairs

⁠⁠⁠The works involve repairs to the Karamea Highway at four dropout slip sites (approx. 50 minutes north of Westport) in steep bushed country. Each road drop*out site is 20 m to 40 m long.

The works to be carried out by the contractor include but are not limited to:

* Earthworks for two road realignments including Cuts up to 7m high
* Construction of a 15m high Reinforced Soil Embankment (approx. 1500m3) requiring importing fill
* Construction of numerous 600 mm diameter bored concrete piles to support geogrid reinforced pavements
* Installation of a 30m long 825mm diameter stream culvert and inlet/outlet structures
* Drainage works including subsoil drains, concrete channels
* Provisional sub*horizontal drainholes and directional drilling of 30m long pipe outlet from a deep subsoil drain at one site.
* Road pavement construction and sealing at all sites

The successful contractor will need to run multiple sites in parallel to achieve the required deadline.

The Contract includes the supply of labour, plant, and materials and equipment necessary for the construction of the proposed works shown on the accompanying plans and documents or implied therein.
