The NSW Youth Mentoring Program is an initiative of the NSW Government to make it easier for people to be involved in their communities (Goal 24) under NSW 2021: A Plan to Make NSW Number One.
Following a successful youth mentoring pilot and independent evaluation, the Minister for Citizenship and Communities has decided to fund delivery of a new State-wide NSW Youth Mentoring Program.
The procurement solution will deliver suitably skilled and qualified organisations capable of implementing the NSW Youth Mentoring Program across all electorates in NSW, for a period of up to three years, commencing February 2015. Electorates have been grouped into four Contract Packages and contractors will be required to provide mentoring to 10 students in each electorate in each Contract Package.
The program is to target a diverse range of young people in Years 8 and 9, including disengaged young people that have the capacity to benefit significantly from a mentoring program focussed on leadership and civic engagement. The minimum duration of the mentoring program is to be at least six months from the match being made and the match formally ending. Each mentee must undertake a community or school based project with a civic focus, of their choosing.
