Tender Description

Copper Mines of Tasmania Pty Ltd (CMT) is the Operated of Underground Copper mine at Mt Lyell, near Queenstown, since April 1999. CMT is a 100% subsidiary of Sesa Sterilte Ltd which is one of the world’s largest global diversified natural resource majors, listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the Nations Stock Exchange (NSE) in India and has ADRs listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

Sesa Sterilte is majority owned by Vedanta Resources Plc, a London listed, FTSE 100 diversified metals and mining major. The Group produces Aluminium, Copper, Zinc, Lead, Silver, Iron ore and Commercial energy operations in India, Zambia, Namibia, South Africa, Ireland, Liberia, Sri Lanka and Australia.

Princess Creek Tailings Storage Facility is owned and maintained by Copper Mines of Tasmania (CMT). The Fealty/dam is located approximately 5km west of the township of Queenstown on the southern side of the Lyell Highway to Strahan. The dam is used to Store tailings from Copper Mines of Tasmania’s Mt Lyell Copper mine operations in Queenstown. The starter dam was constructed in 1996, as a zoned earth fill and rock fill dam to crest RL 210m. The dam has been raised in five downstream lifts, with the current height of the dam from crest to toe being approximately 48m. The current crest level of the dam embankment is RL 227m.

Downstream Lift on Princess Creek Tailings Storage Facility - The lift will consist of raising the dam height by 2.5m to RL229.5m by downstream raise method involving a total volume of approximately 175,000m3 and other associated works including raising the spillway using a mass concrete wall and raising a causeway and decant structures and installation of instrumentation (piezomelers and gauge boards). Construction and dredging is required to be completed before June 2015.

Both above jobs are independent and contractor can apply for either or both as per their capability and experience.
