Tender Description

Contaminated site investigation and development of a remediation action plan (RAP) for the derelict Temora Gold Mines. The investigation will assess the contamination status of point sources at site, their relative contribution to overall contaminant loading, quantify off-site impacts and provide practical, costed rehabilitation options via the RAP

The scope of works will involve undertaking a detailed site investigation and development of a remediation action plan (RAP) for the derelict Temora Gold Mines site (ML1167 & ML1493).

The primary focus of any rehabilitation works proposed should be to contain contamination to site and to improve the quality of water leaving the site, including minimisation of sediment transport. Site investigation and sampling is to determine the approximate extent of contamination both on-site and migrating off-site; whether there are any options to reduce off-site impacts; and to determine whether there are options for improving condition of the site via capping and drainage controls. Leaching from the various waste piles on site should also be considered and options proposed for management of this issue.

The project will involve development of a field investigation methodology, sample collection and laboratory analysis, interpretation of analytical results and development of a detailed RAP. The scope includes the preparation of other associated documents such as field sampling and analysis plans, investigation report (including options for rehabilitation works), the RAP (including detailed design and construction drawings as necessary) and a review of environmental factors (REF) as required.

The aim of the study is to develop practical and costed remediation strategies to address contamination point sources on site and reduce the risk of offsite impacts. The specific objectives are:

* Identify and characterise point sources of contamination including their relative contribution to contamination at site,
* Determine and characterise offsite transport of contaminated sediment or water.
* Assess the effectiveness of past remediation efforts,
* Identify cost-effective and practical remediation options to reduce environmental and safety risks at site and present these in a detailed and costed RAP.
* Justify preferred solution and outlined a detailed scope of works for implementation at the site

Provide documentation to allow approval of works to proceed.
