Tender Description
The Western Australia (WA) Police Driver Training Unit (DTU) is based at the Joondalup Police Academy. The Unit currently has nineteen (19) vehicles comprising sedans, utilities, four-wheel drive (4WD) and three (3) trailers which are used for training recruits and serving officers in safe operational police driving techniques including urgent duty driving.
DTU driving courses are considerably harsher on vehicles than standard driving and there is a requirement for constant maintenance to the vehicles to keep them to a standard required for training purposes.
The DTU fleet currently consists of:
* Seventeen (17) sedans (Ford Falcons and Holden Commodores);
* One (1) Toyota Hilux utility fitted with a custom built module;
* One (1) Toyota LandCruiser Troop Carrier (70 series);
* One (1) custom built bike trailer; and
* Two (2) box trailers.
The current list is indicative of the fleet number, make and model of vehicles and trailers. This may change during the contract period and are subject to change with little or no notice.
The DTU currently holds approximately twenty-five (25) driving courses per year, which vary in duration between 1 day, and 1 week or more.
The estimated engagement of the service provider will be an aggregate of approximately fifty (50) days per year, and is likely to include 2 days which will fall on a weekend or public holiday.
All of the driver training courses are based from the WA Police Academy in Joondalup with courses generally taking place at the Wanneroo and Caversham training locations.
The outcome of this Procurement process may result in one (1) Contractor appointed to each Service Category (as listed below) or one (1) Contractor appointed for all Service Categories.
