Orana Regional Organisation of Councils (OROC) is comprised of the Shires of Bogan, Bourke, Brewarrina, Cobar, Coonamble, Gilgandra, Narromine, Walgett, Warren, Warrumbungle, Wellington and Dubbo City Council.

The councils are located in the Central West, Northwest and Far West sectors of New South Wales. The OROC Region covers approximately 20% of the geographical area of New South Wales. The region is economically and socially reliant on its strong agricultural foundations but mining also plays a significant part in the region’s economy.

OROC’s Vision is to be a leading regional organisation of Councils known for a high level of achievement, collaborative excellence and strong commitment to the region’s communities.

Consistent with that vision OROC is seeking to be proactive in response to the Independent Local Government Review Panel (ILGRP) and its exploration of local government structures and finances and the way that councils would deliver services into the future. Consequently, OROC is undertaking a study of options available in terms of shared services between member Councils.

The aim of the study is to examine the capacity, skills needs and practicality of member councils receiving or delivering Shared Services.

It is intended the study would commence after Councils are in receipt of the final report from the ILGRP.
