The Department for Manufacturing, Innovation, Trade, Resources and Energy (DMITRE) Energy Markets and Programs Division’s RAES Program, ( on behalf of the Minister for Mineral Resources and Energy) has responsibility for the operation and management of electricity infrastructure in 16 Remote Area Communities in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara(APY) lands (Amata, Iwantja, Kaljiti, Kalka, Kanpi, Mimili, Murputja, Nyapari, Pipalyatjara, Pukatja, Umuwa, Watarru, Watinuma and Yunyarinyi), Oak Valley (Maralinga Tjarutja) and Yalata (Aboriginal Lands Trust).Supplying electricity to remote communities which are not connected to the State electricity grid, involves addressing a range of unique complexities and difficulties. 

These include operating and maintaining distribution and generation infrastructure in very remote locations with limited accessibility, harsh environments and extreme and damaging weather conditions.

The RAES Program seeks tenders for the provision of Power Support Services, on the APY Lands. DMITRE operates power stations in the towns of: Pipalyatjara, Watarru, Amata, and Murputja and operates the power station at Pukatja very occasionally (1-3 times per year).

1 There are distributed electricity services to the towns mentioned above plus Indulkana, Mimili, Kaltjiti (Fregon), Yunyarinyi (Kenmore Park), Watinuma, Kalka, Kanpi, Nyapari  and Umuwa communities.

2 Primary responsibilities include

* Maintain the power station in a safe, clean and secure condition
* Control and maintain generation plant and equipment
* Operate power generation plant controls to meet the required demand
* Conduct operations work outside the control room, including routine plant inspections
* Respond to outages and emergencies

3 Monitor the operation of the power station and maintain records/logs. The RAES Program is seeking the services of suitably capable and experienced Power Support Service provider, for a 10 month contract (1st March until 31 December 2014) to provide required services in the APY Lands.
