The Department of Justice & Attorney-General (DJAG) (the Principal) is responsible for waste management in several facilities Statewide in Queensland. There is a requirement for a Contractor to provide waste collection and disposal services that promote the reduction of general waste and an increase in resources recovered for recycling.
The Contractor is to assist in reducing waste contamination and collection issues, and provide a service that is based on ‘best practice’ principles, which are complementary to national, state and regional waste management policies. The Services provided under this Contract must be efficient and effective, and be services on which customers at the premises can rely upon.
The facilities to be serviced by the Contractor range from secure sites including Correctional Centres that have specific access requirements, to non-secure sites where security requirements are less commanding such as; Administration Buildings and Stations for Queensland Police Services and Queensland Fire Service.
The waste streams relevant to this arrangement are;
* General Waste Collection and Disposal Services;
* Recyclables Collection and Disposal Services;
* Clinical waste and sharps containers; and
* Secure document collection and destruction.
